چکیده

In this paper a new behavioral modeling approach for RF systems based is presented, based on a Volterra series input-output map representation. The modeling is done purely in the frequency domain, capturing the typical system level speciications for RF building blocks, independent of the implementation details. A harmonic balance simulation tool has been developed based on those models. The implementation focuses on deterministic effects such as distortion and frequency conversion. The behavioral simulator has been tested for various systems and results are presented.

Modeling Memory Effects in Nonlinear Subsystems by Dynamic Volterra Series

Abstract Design challenges resulting from single chip integration of RF and microwave transceivers is requiring both more powerful analog simulation techniques and more accurate behavioral models that allow efficient hierarchical simulation. Today system level models are limited by their inability to effectively cope with nonlinear memory effects. The paper describes a modeling approach based o...

STAVES: Speedy Tensor-Aided Volterra-Based Electronic Simulator

Volterra series is a powerful tool for blackbox macromodeling of nonlinear devices. However, the exponential complexity growth in storing and evaluating higher order Volterra kernels has limited so far its employment on complex practical applications. On the other hand, tensors are a higher order generalization of matrices that can naturally and efficiently capture multidimensional data. Signif...

The Frequency Domain Behavioral Modeling and Simulation of Nonlinear Analog Circuits and Systems

LUNSFORD II, PHILIP J. The Frequency Domain Behavioral Modeling and Simulation of Nonlinear Analog Circuits and Systems. (Under the direction of Michael B. Steer.) A new technique for the frequency–domain behavioral modeling and simulation of nonautonomous nonlinear analog subsystems is presented. This technique extracts values of the Volterra nonlinear transfer functions and stores these value...

Modeling of Power Amplifier Nonlinearities Using Volterra Series

Radio Frequency (RF) power amplifiers (PAs) are one of the most important elements in radio telecommunication facilities, which are used to amplify the power of input signals. At the same time, they gradually become the bottleneck for modern telecommunication systems due to the confliction between the linearity and the efficiency, resulting in their relatively high level energy consumption. Vol...

A Parameter-Reduced Volterra Model for Dynamic RF Power Amplifier Modeling Based on Orthonormal Basis Functions

A nonlinear dynamic behavioral model for radio frequency power amplifiers is presented. It uses orthonormal basis functions, Kautz functions, with complex poles that are different for each nonlinear order. It has the same general properties as Volterra models, but the number of parameters is significantly smaller. Using frequency weighting the out-of-band model error can be reduced. Using exper...
